Dr. Alberto J. Arguello, a costa rican citizen, speaks perfect english, spanish and french.
He went to Med School at the Universidad de Costa Rica, where he graduated with an honors scholarship because of his high grades. He was very clear that he had to train for seven years in order to become a plastic surgeon. Therefore, he obtained his specialty in General Surgery from the same University, after four years of intense training.
Afterwards, he chose a place were there are many artists and many famous people who go thru plastic surgery. That place is Mexico of course, also famous for its plastic surgery, and there he also graduated with honors, obtaining a 99.5 average throughout the three years in training at the Jalisco Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute, part of the Universidad de Guadalajara, under the direction of worldwide famous Jose Guerrerosantos, MD.
As part of his training he also spent some time rotating with other very prestigious American plastic surgeons, of the United States of America. That is why he went to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland; to Manhattan Ear, Eye and Throat Hospital in New York, and to Shriner´s Burns Hospital in Galveston, Texas, all of with whom he maintains close contact. Also, he received his microsurgery training in the Houston Medical Center, at The University of Texas MD ANDERSON Cancer Center, in the Department of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Arguello is a firm believer of the continuos medical education, and as of 2002, he attends the annual American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) meeting, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) meeting, and the International Symposium of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of the Jalisco Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute.
Also, Dr. Arguello interrupts his regular activities during two weeks a year in order to provide community service. He likes to operate poor people, specially kids who have had burns sequelae and on cleft lips and palates, for free, along with other of his colleagues, in different countries of Latin America.
